Mysuru: A three-day National Seminar on ‘Sri Ramanuja’s Place in Philosophy, Religion and Society,’ organised by the Department of Studies in Philosophy, University of Mysore (UoM), Manasagangothri, in association with Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi, began this morning at Educational Multi-Media Research Centre (EMMRC) in Manasagangothri.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji, retd. Principal of Maharaja’s Sanskrit College, Mysuru, elaborated about social equality and said: “Life and works of three teachers, namely Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya, are of great importance to Hindus. For all the evils prevailing in our current society, we can find remedial measures in philosophical teachings of these three revered teachers.”
More than 70 scholars, researchers and students are participating and presenting their papers in the three-day seminar.
Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, UoM, presided over the inaugural.
Prof. Mahadev, Dean and Faculty of Arts, UoM and other dignitaries were present during the occasion.
