Three-Day Session on ‘Mind and Sex’ to begin tomorrow

Mysuru: The Department of Psychiatry, JSS Hospital, has organised a three-day IPS National Midterm CME – 2019 on the theme ‘Mind and Sex’ from Aug. 9  to 11 at Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS Multispecialty Hospital premises in city. 

Addressing press persons at  Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, National Midterm CME Organising Secretary Dr. T.S. Sathyanarayana Rao said that the CME will be inaugurated by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar at 9 am. 

MP Pratap Simha will be the chief guest. JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research Pro-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, JSS Mahavidyapeeta Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Besturmath, JSS Hospital Director Dr. (Col.) Dayananda will be present. 

The three-day event will discuss on various topics such as Sexual problems in Primary Care Setting, Sex and Psychosomatic medicine, Sex & OBG, Sexual issues in Management of Anxiety, OCD and Personality Disorders, Changing laws & Forensic issues in Sexual Medicine Practice and Gender Dysphoria to name a few. Speakers from Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, New Delhi, Mysuru, Bengaluru and other cities have been invited to present talk on their subject of expertise.

As part of the CME, the Department has also organised an exhibition on the theme of “Mind and Sex”, emphasising the relevance of sexuality in psychiatric practice, and a glance at the premise of ‘Psychiatrists as Sexologists’, along with showcasing the evolution of human sexuality. More than 5,000 books related to the topic will be also be on display.

Dr. Salahuddin Khan Ghori, Dr. Shivanand Manohar and Dr. M. Kishore were present during the press meet.
