Three-day sports meet of Home Guards begins in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The three-day South Zone annual sports meet of Home Guards began at the DAR grounds in Jyothinagar here yesterday.

DCRE (Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement) SP B.T. Kavitha inaugurated the sports meet by releasing balloons.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said that the Home Guards is another important wing of the Police force. Pointing out that Home Guards are known for their discipline, patience and commitment in their service, she said that the work of Home Guards, who just like the Police force work braving the vagaries of nature,  is commendable.

Stressing that participation is more important than winning, she called upon the participants to give their best in the sports meet.

Home Guards from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Kodagu districts are participating in this event, which concludes tomorrow (Dec. 22).

District Home Guards Commandant Dr. M. Kantharaju, officers Purushottam, Vishwanath, compere Babu and others were present.
