Three-day Youth Empowerment Cultural Programme from today

Mysore/Mysuru: The South Zone Cultural Centre (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, has organised a three-day Cultural fiesta ‘Youth Empowerment Cultural Programme-2023’ at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road from today (Jan. 30) till Feb. 1.

The event aims to create awareness on cultural activities among youngsters and students. It endeavours to bring the indigenous cultures of the Zone and other Zones closer to the masses with a focus on the rural populace and underprivileged to make them understand, experience and enjoy the cultural variety of the country.

Programme Schedule

Jan. 30 – 6 pm to 6.15 pm: Inauguration of the event by Prof. M. Nanjayya Honganuru, Head of Folklore Department of University of Mysore (UoM), in the presence of Bharatanatyam exponents Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy and Dr. Kripa Phadke; 6.20 pm to 8.30 pm: Kalarippayattu by Rijul Gurukkal and troupe; Theyyam (Maari) by K. Rajeevan and troupe; Bharatanatyam by Seetha Sasidharan and troupe.

Jan. 31 – 6.30 pm to 8 pm: Mohiniyattam by Sumitha Nair and troupe; Pooja Kunita by M. Sivakumara and troupe.

Feb. 1 – 10 am to 11.30 am: Kuchipudi by Sunanda Prashanth and troupe; Silambattam by P. Sangeetha and troupe.
