Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, who is also the Higher Education Minister, said that three Government First Grade Colleges which are facing shortage of students, have been handed over to their nearest Universities.
Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Dr. Ashwathnarayan said that First Grade Colleges at Hethur in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan District and at Terakanambi in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar District will be handed over to University of Mysore (UoM), while the one at Turuvanur in Challakere taluk of Chitradurga District will be handed over to Davangere University. The respective Universities will start such courses which have local demand at the buildings of the Colleges, he said.
Pointing out that the furniture, land and buildings of the three Colleges have been handed over to the respective University, he clarified that, however, UoM and Davangere Universities will not have the power to sell, share or lease the land or buildings. But the staff of these Colleges will be deputed to other Colleges nearest to their location, he added.
