Mysuru: In separate incidents, a medical student, a contractor and a woman have committed suicide in city.
In the first incident, a 21-year-old medical student committed suicide by hanging self at her room in the hostel yesterday morning. The deceased girl has been identified as Puttaharika, a native of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, who was pursuing her second year MBBS course at JSS Medical College here and staying in its hostel.
Puttaharika allegedly committed suicide after her room mates left for classes and the incident came to light when the hostel security personnel were inspecting the hostel and saw her hanging through the window.
They immediately informed the hostel warden and broke open the door of the room and shifted Puttaharika to the hospital, where the doctors declared her ‘brought dead,’ said N.R. Police, who have registered a case.
It is learnt that Puttaharika did not attend the exam yesterday and the reason for her to take the extreme step would be known after the Police conduct investigation.
In the second incident, a contractor, who had suffered huge losses, committed suicide by hanging self at his house in Vijayanagar here yesterday afternoon.
The deceased contractor has been identified as Chandrashekar (50). He committed suicide, when he was alone at home.
Vijayanagar Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was later handed over to his family members.
In the third case, a 40-year-old woman, who was reportedly depressed in life and attempted suicide by consuming overdose of medicines on Sunday, succumbed at a private hospital here yesterday morning after failing to respond to the treatment.
The deceased woman has been identified as Manjula, a resident Koorgalli in the taluk.
Post-mortem was conducted at MMC&RI mortuary and the body was later handed over to her family members.
Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
