Three killed, 10 injured in bus-goods vehicle collision

Mugur: In a tragic incident, three persons of a family were killed and 10 others sustained severe injuries when a private bus collided with the goods vehicle on the turning of the road which connects Kollegal and Santhemarahalli near Mugur yesterday morning.

While the deceased have been identified as Rathnamma, Shivamma and goods vehicle driver Mahadevaswamy alias Suresh, the severely injured, who have been admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, are 24-year-old Annapoorna, 56-year-old Shankaramma, 25-year-old Brunda, 35-year-old Mahadevaswamy, 4-year-old Pavan, 55-year-old Kamalamma, 30-year-old Nandini, 11-year-old Chethan, 7-year-old Chandana and 36-year-old Kumar.

The incident: Mahadevaswamy of Chikkalinganahalli was proceeding along with his family and relatives in a goods vehicle to Sri Srikanteshwaraswamy Temple in Nanjangud to fulfil a vow.

When the goods vehicle took a turn to the road connecting Kollegal and Santhemarahalli, the private bus, which came from T. Narasipur side rammed into the goods vehicle resulting in Rathnamma, who was seated in the front, being killed on the spot, while driver Mahadevaswamy and Shivamma, breathed their last while being shifted to a hospital.

T. Narasipur Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
