Three resorts raided; expired food items found

Mysuru: Food Safety and Drug Administration Department officials raided three resorts in Mysuru district on Aug. 15 and found several expired food ingredients, raising concerns over the health and safety of customers.

Dr. A.N. Kantharaju, Designated Officer, Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, led the surprise raids. The expired food items were disposed of at the respective premises, while samples of some suspicious items were seized and sent to a laboratory for testing.

The resorts raided were Silver Iris Resorts at Sindhuvalli on the Nanjangud-Ooty Road; Kapila River Front at Kembal village on the Mysuru-Hullahalli Road in Nanjangud taluk; and Advaitha Serenity Resorts at Kalavadi Gate on the H.D. Kote Road.

Several packets of expired food items and ingredients were found, including dry grapes, mustard, green gram, Bengal gram, cashews, khova, milk, rice dough and jeera saunf (fennel seeds). Notices have been issued to the resort authorities.
