Three teenagers among four arrested for robbery

Mysore/Mysuru: Three teenagers and a 22-year-old youth have been arrested by the Metagalli Police on charges of robbing a person after waylaying him and later assaulting the hapless victim. The arrests were made on Mar. 8 when the accused were hiding at a farm house. 

The arrested have been identified as Vishnu alias ‘Loose’, R. Girish alias ‘Nettu’ residents of First Main, B.M. Shri Nagar,  P.G. Ajit Kumar alias ‘Thota’ a resident of Shyadanahalli, all 19 year olds and 22-year-old M. Yeshwanth alias ‘Billi’, a resident of Bhyraveshwaranagar in Hebbal. The accused had taken to crime at a very young age and wanted to earn money in an easy manner. 

According to a press release by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mysuru City Police Commissioner’s Office, on Mar. 4, at around 10.30 pm, the accused came in two bikes and lay in wait on the Metagalli Industrial Area Road near Mahesh PU College for potential victims. Their plan was to block the vehicle and attack the victim. 

As per their plan, they spotted one person (name not revealed) coming on the road and they blocked his way. The accused assaulted their victim and snatched Rs. 28,000 cash, 25-gram gold chain and a mobile phone from him before escaping into the dark. 

The victim later lodged a Police complaint. The accused were arrested on Mar. 8 from a farm house at Shyadanahalli where they were hiding. 

Following interrogation, the Police recovered Rs. 14,000 cash, one mobile phone and two two-wheelers that were used in the crime. The accused told the Police that they had spent the rest of the money. 

The press release, however, does not mention about the 25-gram gold chain that was robbed by the accused from the victim.

Metagalli Inspector A. Mallesh led the investigation team under the guidance of DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Narasimharaja ACP M. Shivashankar. PSIs Vishwanath and Nagaraja Naik, ASIs Ponnappa and Anil Shankapal and constables K.J. Diwakar, Prashanth Kumar, H.B. Krishna, Likhit, Asha, Chethan, Lingarajappa, M. Kantha, Ramesh, Suresh, Jeevan, Gowrishankar and Hanumantha Kalled were part of the investigation.
