Four others from Karnataka have also cleared the qualifying exam of KSCA
Mysore/Mysuru: Cricket is admired by most of the Indians and it is mostly due to the players involved in the sport. However, Umpires are an inseparable part of conduct of any cricket match and it not only takes a lot of knowledge about the game and its laws, passion, preparation and sacrifices, but the clearance of qualifying examination to become an Umpire.
The BCCI, the apex body for cricket in the country, conducts examination to select the Umpires from across the country on need basis, to which the affiliated State Cricket Associations pump the selected Umpires from across their States.
One such examination to select the Umpires to be reckoned as “BCCI Level-II Umpires” is scheduled to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on July 20 (Wednesday). Those who clear this written examination will have to take the practical and viva exams on July 22 and 23. The result will be announced on July 24 and the successful candidates will be eligible to officiate any of the tournaments conducted by BCCI. The screening exam to select the candidates from Karnataka was held on July 2 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, by the KSCA. As was instructed by the BCCI, the top 7 candidates were selected, a list which also feature three Umpires — R. Madhusudhan of N. Rangarao & Sons Pvt. Ltd.; V. Raghunandan, a businessman and A.M. Aniruddha, Administrative Officer, MIT Mysore — from Mysuru Zone. It may be mentioned that anyone who clears this exam will be the first Umpire from Mysuru Zone to achieve this feat.
