A thematic music programme tomorrow
Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will present a special thematic Karnatak classical vocal music programme ‘Thyagaraja Darshana’ along with the rendition of Thyagaraja compositions by Vid. B.N.S. Murali from Hassan and his disciples, at Sri Rama Mandira in Jayanagar on Aug. 29 at 6 pm.
Vid. Murali will present a glimpse of the life and accomplishments of the great saint composer, Thyagaraja, who lived completely dedicated to Sri Rama and turned a blind eye to all the worldly desires, including the invitation of Thanjavur king.
Vidu. Dr. M.A. Jyothi and Vid. G.T. Swamy will provide support on violin and mridanga.
Profile: Hailing from a family of musicians in Basavapatna of Hassan district, Murali received foundational training from Vidu. Seetamma, Vid. Nagaraj Bhagavatar and Vid. Venkatesh Ramanathpura.
He secured first rank in Vidwat exam under the mentorship of Ganakalabhushana Dr. R.K. Padmanabha. A multi-faceted musician, he is also a graded artiste of All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan.
Besides performing in various centres at Chennai, Bengaluru, Mysuru and other places, he has conducted workshops and goshtis, composed music for songs on national festivals too.
A recipient of awards including Karnataka Rajyotsava award, Aryabhata award, Best Junior Artiste award from Gayana Samaja, Bengaluru, Murali is training numerous artistes through his ‘Sapthaswara Kalakendra.’
