Tibetans take out Peace March in city

Mysuru: Marking the 69th year of World Human Rights Day and the day when Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, members of Tibetan Youth Congress from Bylakuppe, Hunsur, Kollegal and Regional Tibetan Women’s Association of Bylakuppe and Hunsur took out a Peace March in city yesterday.

The Tibetans assembled near Mysore Palace, where eminent Speakers addressed the gathering and later, the procession was taken out which passed through the thoroughfares of city before culminating at the DC’s office.

Speaking on the occasion, President of Regional Tibetan Women’s Association Tanzin Dolma said that they mark the day as the height of Chinese repression and atrocities in Tibet, which had resulted in over 150 Tibetans committing self-immolation and added that the wave of mass protest and peaceful demonstrations were strong and consistent inside Tibet. She sought the world’s support and immediate action against the tragedy.

A memorandum was submitted at the DC office in this regard.

President of Tibetan Youth Congress, Hunsur, Bylakuppe and Kollegal Palden Dorjee,       Tsering Lhakyap and Tsering Dorjee Chung and others took part in the procession.
