Hunsur: A tiger, trapped in a snare at Shettihalli-Lakkapatna Reserve Forest in Hunsur taluk, was rescued and shifted to a rehab centre by the Forest Department officials on Friday.
The tiger was caught in the snare believed to have been laid at the agriculture field on the periphery of Shettihalli.
Forest Staff on duty noticed the trapped tiger on Friday morning and alerted the higher officials who swung into action.
In an attempt to free itself from the snare, the tiger is said to have received minor injuries. Wildlife Division Veterinarian Dr. Mujeeb Rahman tranquillised the tiger and treated it.
The rescued feline was later shifted to Chamundi Animal Conservation, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre set up by Mysuru Zoo at Koorgalli with the officials yet to decide on its release back into the wild.
Additional Principal Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Jagath Ram, Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Vijaykumar, Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACFs) Somappa & Prasannakumar, Wildlife Warden Kritika, Environmentalist Rajkumar, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Sandeep and others too visited the spot.
