Tigress found dead in Bandipur

Gundlupet: The Forest Department personnel have found a carcass of an eight-year-old tigress at Moolehole Forest Range coming under Bandipur Reserve Forest yesterday.

Ruling out the possibility of poaching, Bandipur Project Tiger Director Ambadi Madhav said that the tigress had died about three days ago due to infighting and added that the post mortem reports also pointed out to the same.

He said that the tigress had suffered injuries on her neck, shoulder and backbone and added that the claws and canines were intact, which rules out poaching besides stating that the tigress may have been killed by a tiger.

The carcass of the tigress was burnt after Veterinarian Dr. Nagaraju conducted the post-mortem.

Range Forest Officers (RFOs) Sunil Kumar, Shailendra Kumar and staff visited the spot.
