Tipu Armoury moved by 40 metres on first day: MP Pratap Simha inspects relocation process

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha is seen inspecting the relocation process of Tipu Armoury at Srirangapatna this morning as representatives of American company PSL-Wolfe Private Limited and New Delhi-based PSL Engineering look on.

The ground engineers, architects, monument experts and officials, who successfully conducted a test to check the feasibility to move the historic Tipu Armoury to a new spot, have moved the structure by 40 metres using Hydraulic Body Push Rams on the first day yesterday.

It may be recalled that the digging process around the semi-buried armoury began about five months ago. Monument shifting experts had lifted the nearly 1000-tonne armoury last month and had placed it on a series of iron piers for support and the monument was moved by 40 meters yesterday till 5.30 pm to be relocated to a new spot which is 100 meters away from the original site.

Meanwhile, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha this morning visited the spot and inspected the shifting process.

The shifting process, which began at about 10 am today will go on till 5.30 pm and the experts are confident of relocating the armoury to the new site in three to four days.
