Tiwari’s death: Siddharamaiah seeks thorough probe

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday urged his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath to order a thorough probe by an ‘efficient agency’ into the death of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Anurag Tiwari. In his letter to Adityanath, Siddharamaiah said that the circumstances leading to Tiwari’s death should be thoroughly investigated by a competent team of investigators.

Speaking to press persons here yesterday, Siddharamaiah dismissed BJP leaders claims that Anurag Tiwari had unearthed a multi-crore scam in the Food and Civil Supplies Department.

Pointing out that the post-mortem report had cited heart attack as the cause of the Karnataka cadre IAS officer’s death, Siddharamaiah said that the Uttar Pradesh Government was probing the death and it (UP) was free to cover all allegations made by the IAS officer’s family and Karnataka BJP leaders,  in the investigation.

Tiwari, a 2007 batch IAS officer who was serving as Commissioner of the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Bengaluru, was found dead near a Government Guest house in Lucknow on his 36th birthday on Wednesday.

SIT probe

Speaking to press persons in Mysuru this morning, Siddharamaiah said that the UP Government had ordered a SIT probe into Tiwari’s death and the State would fully co-operate with the investigation. Replying to former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy’s charges that top officers were losing their lives under the Congress Government in the State, the CM said that it was the most irresponsible statement.
