To which account will mask fine amount go?

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Opposition Leader M.U. Subbaiah sought to know to which account the fine collected from the citizens for not wearing face mask will be credited.

At the General Council Meeting held here on Tuesday, he wanted a clarification whether the fine amount will be deposited to the MCC account or Home Department account.

Clarifying his doubt, MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde said initially, the Police Department did not have ‘head of account’ to deposit fine collected from public for not wearing face mask. So, as per directions of the State Government, both Police and Corporation personnel were jointly conducting raid and imposing fine which was coming to the MCC account.

However, last week, the Government has allowed the Police Department to create ‘head of account’ and now the fine amount would go to their account, he added.
