Tomato processing workshop held

Mysuru:  A one-day workshop-cum-demonstration on Tomato Processing Technologies for farmers was held recently at Defence Food & Research Laboratory (DFRL) in Siddarthanagar here.

More than 50 farmers from Mysuru and surrounding districts attended the workshop.  The farmers were given a demonstration on processing technologies of tomato products such as Tomato Sauce, Tomato powder, Tomato Sambar paste, Chutney etc.

The workshop focussed on machinery, space required, raw materials, bank subsidies, marketing techniques and other requirements to start a small scale production unit and the cost involved for the same.

DFRL Director Dr. G.K. Sharma gave away training certificates to all the participants.

Scientists Prakash Patki, Dr. O.P. Chauhan, Dr. Jeniffer Raj and other supporting staff were present.
