Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Tourism and Hospitality, St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous) and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bengaluru Office, had organised an event on Sept. 26 to celebrate World Tourism Day at Somanathapura and Srirangapatana by holding cleanliness campaign to promote responsible and sustainable tourism.
Students of St. Philomena’s College, who are members of Yuva Tourism Club took a pledge as part of observing Swachhta Pakhwada (cleanliness fortnight) and Swachhta hi Sewa from Sept. 16 to Oct. 2.
As part of Swachhta Pakhwada and World Tourism Day celebrations, the Ministry of Tourism has also introduced “Travel for Life” under the mission
LiFE (Life Style for Environment) initiative. This initiative, dedicated to the tourism sector, was launched today (Sept. 27) at 108 sites across the country identified by the Ministry.
Over 50 students of St. Philomena’s College participated in the cleanliness campaign at Chennakeshava Temple in Somanathapura and took Travel for Life pledge on Sept. 26.
The event was organised by Prof. Paul Iruthayaraj, Prof. Rini Brown, Renjith of Bachelor of Tourism & Hotel Management (BTHM) and Bharath of Ministry of Tourism, Bengaluru Office.
