Tourist Helpline from Sept. second week

Mysuru: The District Administration has come forward to set up a Tourist Helpline for visitors to Mysuru during Dasara regarding tourist places and programmes.

The Tourism Department is making all arrangements to begin this facility by the second week of September. The Department is in talks with a few telephone companies for the Helpline numbers. “Four people can call up the same number at the same time and get information and the callers will not be put on hold,” said Tourism Department Deputy Director H.P. Janardhan. The Helpline Desk is likely to be set up at Hotel Mayura Yatri Nivas or at the Information and Publicity Department or at the DC Office, he said.

Once a Telephone company gives the Helpline numbers it will be provided to the public. Four persons will be manning the Helpline Desk. They will be answering to calls simultaneously, providing information on Dasara programmes, gold card, tourist places of interest and hotels and resorts in and around the city. This Helpline is a pilot project and if the response is good, it will be continued, he said.
