Mysore/Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra assured that traders and vendors will no more have to face harassment from the MCC authorities and the Police from now on.
He was speaking at the inauguration of Mysuru Traders Suraksha Kshemabhivruddhi Sangha at a programme organised at Alamma Choultry in Shivarampet here yesterday.
Pointing out that traders have formed this Kshemabhivruddhi Sangha in order to protect themselves from harassment by officialdom and the Police, Nagendra said that the Sangha has been set up based on the theme ‘Strength derives from Unity’ and as such, it can be said that the Sangha will be free from harassment and hurdles by the authorities from now on.
Mysuru District Journalists Association President S.T. Ravikumar (RK), in his address, questioned why the traders are subjected to harassment, when instead officials should focus more on complete stoppage of banned plastics production.
Former MLA Vasu, in his address, said that Padma Shri Saalumarada Thimmakka has grown innumerable number of trees which is not an easy thing.
Pressing for lifetime Cabinet status for Thimmakka, who is popularly known as ‘Vrukshamaate’, he observed that her simplicity, humility and humbleness have been a huge factor in her getting top status.
Mayor Shivakumar said that it has come to his notice the confusions regarding the issuance of Trade Licence by the MCC. He assured that an online system for payment of fee for traders and getting Trade License sitting at their comforts will soon be introduced in the MCC.
Mysuru Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda stressed on the need for organisational strength and hoped that traders will derive strength from this Sangha.
Saalumarada Thimmakka released the logo of the Sangha on the occasion.
Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Maharshi Valmiki marking Valmiki Jayanthi.

Anand, Businessman S.K. Dinesh, Sangha Vice-President Praveen Kumar, office-bearers Rajesh Kumar, Chandrashekar, Kantilal, Shankarsingh Purohit, Jeevanram Choudhari, Sagar, Lalaram, Darga Singh, Prakash Kumar, Sudeep and others were present.
