Mysore/Mysuru: Senior journalist and columnist Gouri Satya’s new book ‘Mysurina Asamanyaru,’ a collection of 50 articles published in Mysuru Mithra, a sister publication of Star of Mysore (SOM), was released at Rotary Hall on JLB Road in city yesterday.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath released the book at a programme organised by Mysuru Book Clubs Charitable Trust in association with Kannada Odugara Okkuta. The book is published by K.V. Srinivas of Mahima Prakashana.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Betsurmath said, if the then Maharajas of Mysore attained fame, it was due to the contributions of Dewans, Amaldars and Engineers and officials belonging to different cadre, towards the development of Mysore province.
“Apart from Maharajas of Mysore, we know about the Dewans Poornaiah, Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M. Visvesvaraya, but little do we know about several other Dewans, who have made efforts for the development of the province. Poornaiah is popular for his administrative acumen, with a museum built about the great visionary at Yalandur in Chamarajanagar. Most of the people are not aware about Amaldars, DCs and their subordinate staff, comprising who and all, Mysore province became Rama Rajya,” said Dr. Betsurmath.
The book also contains information about the great personalities who advocated for women’s education, along with the power of Amaldar, Chief Engineer, Doctors, DC, Plague Commissioner, Sanitary Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, IGP, Police Superintendent and Judges, besides the popular names in the fields of literature, music, theatre, art and culture, dance etc., he added.
