Traffic Police in the wrong direction

Sir,

Since a couple of months, Traffic Police are checking the motorists to apprehend them  for drunken driving opposite Mandovi Motors, towards city side, on KRS Road.

Traffic Police have put the barricades on the wrong side of  KRS Road, targeting motorists heading towards Mysuru city,   to check for drunken driving. This strategic flaw significantly limits the efficacy of the Police efforts.

It is evident that the majority of motorists travelling from the KRS direction, towards Mysuru city,  have limited access to establishments serving alcohol. Consequently, they are less likely to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

On the contrary, motorists travelling from Mysuru city side, where numerous bars and pubs are situated, present a higher risk of drunken driving.

These motorists use KRS Road to access various residential areas scattered along  its stretch.

By placing the barricades on KRS Road towards these residential areas would logically increase the likelihood of apprehending more drunken drivers, thereby enhancing the overall safety on the roads.

The current deployment of barricades towards the city side on KRS Road just squanders the valuable time and resources of our Traffic Police, in an unproductive manner.

It is imperative that law enforcement agencies reassess their strategy and redirect their efforts towards areas with higher potential for detecting instances of drunken driving.

I request the authorities concerned to promptly rectify this location oversight and realign their focus towards more productive and impactful policing measures.

By doing so, they can ensure safer roads for all residents  and tourists alike.
