Traffic restrictions at city centre

Sir,

This is with reference to the restriction of parking and traffic movement on Sayyaji Rao Road and D.D. Urs Road as proposed by PWD and District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, which is aimed at reducing congestion on these busy roads.

In this regard a similar opinion was made by me earlier itself (De-congest traffic during Dasara in SOM dated Oct.11, 2014) and later in Sept. 2016 (not in SOM) at least to try this during Sundays and during Dasara days, so that public can walk around on these roads without any fear of accidents.

However, officials concerned have not paid any attention to this. Banning the traffic on these roads also forces people to walk around, which is very much required for the health of individuals.

What is happening now is people are parking in front of the shop where they want to do shopping, whether there is  parking space or not thereby  leading to traffic congestion. At least now this may be tried on weekends and public holidays till the parking lots are constructed.
