Mysuru: The Mysuru City Traffic Police, who have intensified their operations against traffic rules violators, have collected Rs. 3,31,27,200 from offenders from Jan. 1 to Nov. 16, 2018 through Field Traffic Violation Report (FTVR).
The City Traffic Police had intensified their operation against offenders by conducting checking at circles, junctions and main roads and had also issued notices through post to owners of vehicles that had violated traffic rules by checking CCTV footages of 59 cameras installed in city at Traffic Management Centre at City Police Commissioner’s office.
More than 5,000 cases of traffic rules violation were registered per day and in the month of October alone and Rs. 17,29,900 fine was imposed through FTVR but after checking the CCTV footages, notices were issued to the vehicle owners and Rs. 43,98,700 fine amount was collected.
According to the information, the fine amount collected by using the technology is more than the fine amount collected by traffic cops through checking.
Meanwhile, the public have complained that the Traffic Police, deployed for checking helmetless riders were causing a lot of problems as many riders in a bid to escape from getting caught caused accidents resulting in deaths and injuries of not only riders but also others.
The public have suggested that instead of deploying Traffic Police for conducting manual checking, the Police could go through the CCTV footages, register cases and issue notice to owners of such vehicles which have violated traffic rules and collect fines from them.
