Mysore/Mysuru: A one-day training workshop on modern methods of vegetable farming was held under the joint aegis of Education Extension Centre, Organic Farming Research Station, Naganahalli and the Organisation for the Development of people (ODP) at Jayapura in the taluk recently.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Extension Centre Head Dr. C. Ramachandra called upon farmers to follow modern farming practices for vegetables cultivation. Stressing on the need for implementing the technical inputs given at the training programme, he said that farmers should not hesitate to adapt modern methods of farming that are more productive and cost and time saving.
Horticulture faculty Rahul Das said that there are different types of farming practices for growing vegetables. He highlighted the salient features of different methods of vegetable farming.
FPO Co-ordinator John B. Rodrigues called upon the farming community to take part in the annual ‘Krishi Mela’ to take place in Agricultural University campus, Bengaluru in the month of November. The University has invited entries from progressive farmers for awarding farmer awards at the District and Taluk levels, he said adding that the last date to apply is July 30.
Village leader Kempanayaka, former Mysuru TP Vice-President Javara Nayaka, Field Assistants Asif Pasha, Sandesh and others were present.
