Transport Minister inspects Vehicle Fitness Centre at RTO

Instructs officials to expedite works

Mysuru:  Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Laxman Savadi, on Tuesday evening, inspected the Vehicle Fitness Centre works taken up at Regional Transport Office (RTO)-East premises at Rajivnagar and instructed the officials to speed up the works and complete it soon.

The works of the Vehicle Fitness Centre and other allied works for RTO at Rajivnagar has been undertaken at a cost of Rs. 7.5 crore with an additional Rs. 5.52 crore sanctioned for installation of various equipment at the Fitness Centre. 

An amount of Rs. 2.76 crore was also sanctioned for additional works at the Vehicle Fitness Centre. The works have been taken up by the Civil Engineering Division of KSRTC.

The Minister also inspected the Automated Vehicle Testing Station which has come up on 2.3 acre plot at Rajivnagar. The tender for the works was awarded to KBR Infratech Limited, Bengaluru. The works had commenced on Jan. 20, 2014, completed on July 29, 2015 and has been handed over to the Department. 

Mysuru Transport Division Joint Commissioner C.T. Murthy explained the Minister that  Rs. 5.86 additional cost has been incurred and informed that a 9 sq. mts. panel room, administrative branch, vehicle inspection room, parking shelter, separate men and ladies toilets, security room and other facilities have been provided at the new building.

Regional Transport Officer  (East) Deepak Gowda, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Shafiuddin Khan, Regional Transport Officer (West) Omkeshappa and others were present.
