Tree Plantation Drive by SWR Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: World Environment Day-2021 marked the formal launch of the United Nations ‘Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030)’ with this year’s theme “Ecosystem Restoration”. 

On its commitment of environment conservation and promotion, Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) had organised a tree plantation drive at Vontikoppal Railway Colony.

About 400  square meters will be converted into forest with 75 native tree saplings like Jamun, Honge, Neem, Indian Cork Tree and Gulmohar. This drive was led by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rahul Agarwal by planting saplings.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager-I, Devasahayam Akasi and  B. Srinivasulu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager-II, along with other senior officers and members of SWR State Bharat Scout and Guides, participated in the tree plantation drive.

As part of the programme, Rahul Agarwal administered a pledge to promote conservation and sustainable management of environmental resources. In line with this year’s theme, plantation drive was conducted over Mysuru Division by maintaining COVID-19 protocol. Around 1,100 saplings were planted across the Division with the participation of Scouts and Guides.
