Trek to Chamundi Hill marks World Hiking Day

Tiger Adventure Foundation (TAF), in association with The Mountain Goat, conducted a hike to Chamundi Hill as part of World Hiking Day celebrations on Nov.17.

Trekkers paid homage to mountaineers and hikers who lost their lives in the Nanda Devi Range in Uttarakhand recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Solanki, an ardent adventure enthusiast, said that hiking was meant to come out of comfort zone, explore the wild to study variety of flora, fauna and conserve it for the generations to come.

The programme was organised to create awareness among children to take part in hiking activities that imbibes the spirit of the adventure and concern for nature among youths.

The trek which started from the foot of Chamundi Hill lasted at the Nandi statue. The participants had hands-on experience of bouldering, balancing on the rock, chimney climbing, listening to chirping of different birds and enjoy the scenic beauty of Mysuru from atop the hill.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Gururaj Satyanarayan, Charan Ashwath, Punitha Pradeep and Adithi Rao of TAF.
