Tribute to Dr. K.M. Govindegowda, ENT Surgeon

Sir,

Some doctors make a difference in our lives, some doctors reduce the quantum of our sufferings, some doctors touch our hearts with their humane kindness, some doctors bring a smile on our face… But 20th July saw a huge loss for the ENT and medical fraternity in the demise of Dr. K.M. Govindegowda (65), former ENT Head at MMC&RI.

He was a man of simple life and principles. Along with completing his MS ENT degree, he has also accomplished KAS, MA degrees to his academic achievements. He was always in the constant process of learning new things and progressing academically.

My fond memory of him has been when I had the opportunity to learn ENT under his guidance during my medical under-graduation at MMC&RI. He encouraged me to do a student research project under his guidance. He was an avid writer and poet of great calibre.

It breaks my heart to write this tribute following his un- timely demise during Corona pandemic.
