Apropos to the Star Weekend Supplement on Trin Trin (SOM dated Dec.10), it was mentioned that this is the first Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) system to be launched in Asia.
I would like to clarify that it is factually incorrect as these systems, though initiated much earlier across the West, have also been present in Asia at least as early as 2011 in China. Other Asian countries such as Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Israel have also had these systems for a few years now, with China leading the world in terms of the presence and usage of PBS for any country.
The PBS introduced in June 2017 in Mysuru is, however, the first in the country, and is another feather in the cap for the city.
