Bengaluru: MLC and D. Devaraj Urs Truck Terminals Limited Chairman D.S. Veeraiah said that Truck Terminals will be constructed in the outskirts of all district Headquarters of the state in order to decongest heavy vehicular traffic movement and to ease loading and unloading activities.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Veeraiah said that Truck Terminals will be built in an area of 30 to 40 acres, where loading and unloading of over 2,000 trucks and other goods vehicles can be done. Explaining the salient features of the Truck Terminals, Veeraiah said that each one will have a toilet and sanitation facility, rest rooms, an ATM attached Bank, a Police Station, shopping mall etc.,Maintaining that the Truck Terminals will be a boon to transporters, lorry owners and other goods vehicle operators, he said that this will also help a lot in job creation.
Asserting that all the 31 districts of the State will have Truck Terminals, he said that Truck Terminals are already coming up at Mysuru and Dharwad, which will be functional soon.
Noting that the construction of Bengaluru Truck Terminal is fully complete, he said that this will be thrown open for use by Transporters shortly. He further said that the land for Truck Terminal at Hubbali and Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district has been acquired and the construction works will commence shortly.
The Deputy Commissioners and Tahsildars of all other districts have been asked to identify lands for the Truck Terminals in their respective districts, he added.
