Mysuru: Mysore Welfare Trust and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) launched a cleanliness campaign ‘Parisara Snehi Mysuru’ in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple here this morning.
About 200 NSS students of St. Philomena’s College and Vidyavardhaka College participated in the campaign.
The area in front of the Temple was thoroughly cleaned which went on all along the road leading to Harding Circle vicinity where the litter collection totalled to about 10 sacks.
Launching the campaign, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath said that the city had bagged the ‘Cleanest City’ tag twice but has dropped to fifth place. She urged the residents to cooperate to regain the top most position in cleanliness again.
Speaking on the occasion, Trust President Dr. Sarah Haq thanked the NSS volunteers in joining the campaign which will go on possibly every week to achieve the desired result.
Trust Secretary Arafat, Directors Suhail Anjum, Niquat Habeeb, Shoba, Advisor Soundarya, Jacob Cherian of the Plogging Party and others were present.
