Tumour weighing 6-kg removed from woman’s abdomen at Cauvery Hospital

Mysuru: Doctors of Cauvery Heart and Multi-speciality Hospital, Mysuru, have given a new lease of life to a 39-year-old woman by removing tumour weighing over 6 kgs.

The woman had visited various hospitals across the city following recurrent abdominal pain and abdominal distension before going to Cauvery Hospital. Doctors who held an investigation found that she had a large tumour occupying almost the whole of abdomen.

Following consultation with Dr. Girish, Consultant Oncosurgeon, she was advised surgery and admitted at Cauvery Cancer Centre, a unit of Cauvery Heart and Multi-speciality Hospital.

After necessary evaluations, she was operated and a 6-kg tumour arising from her ovary was removed during an operation which took more than 4 hours and was diagnosed to be cancer of ovary. She improved well and is now undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy for same.

The surgery was completed successfully with the effort of a team of doctors comprising Dr. M.S. Girish, Consultant Oncosurgeon, Dr. Aravind, Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon, Dr. Keshavamurthy and Dr. Harish Kumar, Consultant Anaesthesiologists. Dr. G.R. Chandrasekhar, Chairman of Cauvery Heart and Multispeciality Hospital, has lauded the efforts of the whole team of doctors, paramedical and nursing staff.
