Two arrested for attempting to snatch mobile phone

Mysuru:  Even as cell phone snatching incidents are on the rise in the city, alert public managed to catch two thieves when they were attempting to snatch a mobile phone from a person near Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle (Hardinge Circle) on Thursday.

The caught thieves, who have been identified as 33-year-old Salim Pasha, a resident of Pulikeshi Road and 29-year-old Mohammad Faizal Pasha, a resident of Ghousianagar in city, were later handed over to the Police.

One Kumar, a resident of Nanjangud, was standing close to Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle on Thursday evening, when one of the two accused who came from behind, held Kumar firmly, while the other attempted to pick the mobile phone from Kumar’s pocket. 

Kumar raised an alarm, when the members of the public who were around, managed to catch hold of Salim and Faizal when they tried to flee from the spot. 

The two were given a thrashing before they were handed over to the Beat Police, it is learnt.

Nazarbad Police, who arrested the duo, produced them before the Court, which remanded them to Judicial Custody.
