Two arrested for looting pedestrian

Mysuru: Mandi Police, on Apr.13, have arrested two persons on charges of waylaying a pedestrian on Seshadri Iyer Road on Apr.12 and looting him of a mobile phone and a silver chain and have recovered the stolen items.

The arrested have been identified as 31-year-old Vijay of Nanjangud town and 47-year-old Anil Kumar of Guddehosur village, Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district.

The Police picked up the accused near Yousuf Circle on Sawday Road in Mandi Mohalla and during interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of waylaying a person on Seshadri Iyer Road and looting him of a mobile phone and a silver chain, following which the Police formally arrested them and recovered the phone and the silver chain both worth about Rs. 7,000 from them.

Mandi Inspector B. Basavaraju and staff Jayakumar, Ilyaz, Jayapala, Ravi Gowda and Shankar took part in the nabbing and recovery operation.
