Two arrested for poaching civet cat and wild cats

Mysuru:  The Mysuru Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested two persons who had poached one civet cat and two wild cats and were transporting the carcasses in a plastic bag.

The arrested poachers are C.S. Ravi and Nagaraju. On Oct. 27, the accused, who had hunted the wild animals, were transporting the carcasses in their two-wheeler (KA-54-R-9878) near Akkihebbal in K.R. Pet taluk when they were caught by the Forest Department staff.

The Forest staff, who have seized the carcasses of the wild animals, arrested both the accused besides seizing the two-wheeler used for the crime. A case was registered under The Wildlife (Protection) Act-1972 and the accused were handed over to judicial custody.

Forest Mobile Squad DCF Chandrashekargowda C. Patil guided ACF G. Rudresh, RFOs Sachin and K. Surendra, DRFOs V. Muthuraju and C.S. Mohan and staff Devaraju Bandivaddar, Kumara and Yogesh in the nabbing and seizing operation.
