Two arrested for smuggling cattle

Mysuru: Alanahalli Police have arrested two persons on charges of smuggling cattle and have rescued two calves besides seizing the goods vehicle used for the crime.

Following a tip off, the Police intercepted a goods vehicle (KA-09-B-6987) on June 1 night near Savitribai Phule Circle on T. Narasipur Road during which the goods vehicle driver and another person inside the vehicle tried to flee but were caught. When the Police checked the vehicle, they found two calves tied inside vehicle and rescued them.

During interrogation, the accused told the Cops that a person had bought the calves at a fair in T. Narasipur and had given them the calves to be sold to a slaughter house for a higher price.

Alanahalli Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
