Two arrested for stealing bicycles, assaulting people

Rs. 2 lakh worth items recovered

Nanjangud:  Nanjangud Sub-Division Police have arrested two youths on charges of committing various crimes and have recovered items worth Rs. 2 lakh from them.

The arrested are 24-year-old Vasanth Kumar and 34-year-old Shankar, both residents of Mandakalli in Mysuru taluk.

The accused on Nov. 28 night, had stolen two bicycles of kids from the house of one Abdul Subhan at Badanawalu village and were transporting the same in an auto, when the family members of Subhan chased the auto and managed to stop it near the village. But the accused, assaulted the family members and had snatched away Rs. 1,000 from Subhan before fleeing from the spot. 

Apart from the above incident, the accused had entered the old Police Station premises and had stolen iron pipes installed in the toilet, which the Police came to know during interrogation. Separate cases were registered at Kavalande Police Station in this regard.

Kavalande Police, who took up the investigation, traced the accused and arrested them within three days of registering the case. 

Nanjangud Circle Inspector Rajashekar supervised Sub-Inspector Satish and staff Maheshan, Abdul Latif, Devaraju, Suresh, Srikanth and Krishna, in the nabbing and recovery operation.
