Two bike lifters arrested: Six two-wheelers worth about Rs. 2.05 lakh recovered

Mysuru: In separate cases, the City Crime Branch (CCB) and Mandi Police have arrested two bike lifters and have recovered a total of six two-wheelers worth about Rs.2.05 lakh from them.

In the first case, the CCB Police on July 10, acting on a tip off, conducted a special operation in front of B.R.S. Hotel at Srirampura in Vidyaranyapuram Police limits and took 29-year-old Ravi Kumar, a resident of Kuntamma Temple Road in Hootagalli into custody for enquiry.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing two-wheelers from Vidyaranyapuram, Vijayanagar, Lakshmipuram and Mysuru Rural Police limits by using duplicate keys. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Cops have recovered one Honda Activa scooter, one Yamaha Libero bike, one Hero Honda Splendor bike and one TVS Excel moped from him.

The accused also has a case of vehicle theft registered against him at Saraswathipuram Police Station.

DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and CCB ACP B.R. Lingappa supervised CCB Inspector R. Jagadish, ASIs Chandregowda and Alexander and staff Srivivas Prasad, M.R. Ganesh, Chikkanna, Yakub Shariff, Shivaraju, Lakshmikanth, Rajendra, Niranjan, Prakash, Raghu, Chamundamma, Gautham and Shivakumar in the nabbing and recovery operation.

In the second case on the same day, Mandi Police, who conducted an operation on Sreenivasa Temple Road in Kailaspuram, took into custody a 31-year-old man, who was trying to sell a Bajaj Caliber bike without registration plate.

The accused has been identified as Niranjan, a resident of Doddabaati in Davangere.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing bikes in Mandi and Lashkar Police limits using duplicate keys and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered one Bajaj Caliber and one Hero Honda bike, worth about Rs.55,000 from him.

DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and N.R. Sub-Division ACP Gopal supervised Mandi Inspector Ansar Ali, ASI M. Basavaraju and staff S. Jayakumar, M. Eliyas, Jayapal, Ravigowda and Shankar in the nabbing and recovery operation.
