Two burglars arrested, jewellery worth Rs.12.80 lakh recovered

Mysuru: In a major catch, the CCB Police, who arrested two burglars, have recovered gold jewellery totally worth Rs.12.80 lakh from them.

The arrested have been identified as Syed Imran, 24 of Chikkegowdanadoddi in Mandya district and Syed Khalid, 30 of Channapatna in Ramanagaram district.

The CCB sleuths picked up the two when they were trying to dispose off stolen jewellery at a pawn brokers shop on Ashoka Road on June 14. During interrogation, the duo confessed to have burgled houses at various locations in the city and also at Hubballi, following which gold jewellery worth about Rs.12.80 lakh stolen by them were recovered.

With the arrest of the duo, three burglary cases registered in Kuvempunagar Police Station limits, one case each in Ashokapuram, Vidyaranyapuram, Udayagiri, Vijayanagar and Devaraja Police Station limits in city and one in Hubballi’s Ghantikeri Police Station limits, totalling nine cases, have been cracked.

City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subramanyeswara Rao has commended the CCB Police team comprising ACP B.R. Lingappa, Inspector Shivaswamy, ASI Chandregowda and staff M.R. Ganesh, Chikkanna, Lakshmikanth, Ramaswamy, Shivaraju, Yakub Sharif, Asgar Khan, Rajendra, Niranjan, Prakash, Anand, Chamundamma, Shivakumar and Gautham, who were supervised by DCP Mahaninga B. Nandaganvi.
