Two-day All India Turf Invitation Cup concludes

‘Adjudicate’ wins The Indian Invitation Cup-2020

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Adjudicate,’ owned by Dr. Khaitan, Shrimati Khaitan, Dr. Jalan, Soom Stud Farm (P) Ltd., D.A. Nanda, Ishananda and Amitabh Nanda, won the 58th Edition of the prestigious ‘The Indian Turf Invitation Cup-2020’ in the races held at Mysore Race Club (MRC) in Nazarbad on the second-day of the two-day event yesterday.

This is the first time this prestigious Invitation Cup was held in Mysuru after MRC attained Independent Turf Authority status in 2014.

The race was much awaited as 14 top class horses participated in the event.

‘Adjudicate,’ ridden by Jockey Y.S. Srinath, won in course record time of 2 min 26.97 sec bagging the cash prize of Rs.60 lakh and a coveted trophy worth Rs. 6 lakh.

‘Juliette,’owned by Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy Chettiar of Chettinad Charitable Trust, with A. Sandesh as the Jockey, bagged the second prize of Rs. 20 lakh. ‘Desert God,’ owned by Radiant Bloodstock (P) Ltd. with David Allen as jockey won the third prize of Rs.10 Lakh, while ‘Anjeze,’ owned by Sarainaga Racing (P) Ltd. with Trevor as Jockey, won the fourth prize of Rs.5 lakh.

In other races, ‘The Great Gatsby,’ owned by Vijaya Racing and Stud Farm (P) Ltd., won the 2,000 mts. ‘His Highness Maharaja Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Birth Centenary Celebration Cup.’ David  Egan was the Jockey for the Horse.

‘Starry Wind’ owned by R.C. Puri and Manohar Duggal won the 1600 Mts. ‘Smt. Gayatri Devi and Sardar K.B. Ramachandra Raj Urs Million Cup.’ I. Chisty was the Jockey of the Horse.

‘Aachen,’ owned by Arun and Alagappan Royal Blue, won the 1200 mts Villloo C. Poonawala Million Cup, sponsored by Cyrus R. Poonawala and Mysore Race Club (MRC). C.S. Jodha was the Jockey of the Horse.

‘Multifaceted,’ owned by Reinz M.K. Edward, won the 1,400 mts ‘Suresh Mahindra Multi-Million Trophy’ in record time of 1 min 21.05 sec., sponsored by Marthanda Singh Mahindra and MRC. Suraj Narredu was the Jockey of the Horse.

‘Trafalgar,’ owned by J.D. Gupta, won the 1,600 mts ‘Maj. P.K. Mehra Memorial Super Mile Cup’ sponsored by Usha Stud and Agricultural Farms (P) Ltd. and Turf Authority of India. David Allen was the Jockey.

‘Vachan’, owned by  Namrata Rakesh and Ujash Mahendra Patel, won the 1,200 mts ‘Kunigal Stud Million Cup’ sponsored by United Blood Stock and Breeders Ltd.. P. Trevor was the Jockey.

‘Striking Memory,’ owned by H.K. Lakshman Gowda, won the 1,400 mts ‘Malayan Racing Association Goodwill Trophy’ sponsored by Malayan Racing Association. R.N. Darshan was the Jockey.

TROPHY PRESENTATION: Dr. N. Nithyanand Rao, Chairman, The Turf Authorities of India and Mysore Race Club, presenting ‘The Indian Turf Invitation Cup Gr I’ to Amitabh Nanda, one of the owners of Adjudicate, which won the event on the 2nd day of the of All India Turf Invitation Cup at Mysore Race Club in city yesterday. Others seen are (first row – from left) Zavaray S. Poonawalla (Chairman, Royal Western India Turf Club, Mumbai), M.A.M.R. Muthiah (Chairman, Madras Race Club), Sudipto Sarkar (Chairman, Royal Calcutta Turf Club), R. Surender Reddy (Chairman, Hyderabad Race Club) and D. Vinod Shivappa (Chairman, Bangalore Turf Club).

Also, six individuals, who won the lucky dip held as part of ‘The Indian Turf Invitation Cup-2020,’ were distributed prizes on the occasion. Mohammad Shariff, a resident of Kesare second stage, won the First Prize – Maruti Suzuki Alto car, while the second prize – Bajaj ES 110 bike was bagged by Uppigere Chandra of Mysuru, Shivananjappa of Ramanuja Road, P. Yadav and Guruswamy of Mysuru and                          Sajan of Virajpet.

MRC Chairman Dr. N. Nithyanand Rao and MRC office-bearers distributed prizes to the winners. Dr. Nithyanand Rao said that the two-day prestigious racing event has been held successfully and the number of  people who participated in the event was much more than expected.
