Two-day Bharatanatyam workshop in city on July 13 and 14

Mysuru: Champaka Academy, a premier educational and cultural institution in Mysuru with the mission to nurture and promote Indian culture, is conducting a two-day Bharatanatyam workshop at its premises in Ramakrishnanagar.

Renowned Bharatanatyam Guru, Karnataka Kalashree B.K. Vasanthalakshmi will conduct the workshop on July 13 and 14 teaching rare “Kshetrayya Padams.”

Bharatanatyam practitioners aged 14 years and above can register at Champaka Academy, 1609, Vishwamanava Double Road, Ramakrishnanagar.

Profile: B.K. Vasanthalakshmi, the Founder-Director of Vishrutha School of Performing                                   Arts in Bengaluru, is a legendary teacher and a gifted choreographer who has trained legions of disciples. Initially trained by her father Natyacharya Vidwan  H.R. Keshava Murthy, she went on to pursue her passion with a scholarship to Adyar Kalakshetra, learning under late Rukmini Devi Arundale. She  also had intense training in Abhinaya from Guru Venkatalakshamamma.

 She has performed worldwide and has been bestowed with many awards including “Natya Ratna”, “Natya Bharathi”, “Chandana Award” by Doordarshan Karnataka and many others.
