Two-day ‘Bhavanotsava’ begins at BVB

Mysuru: Bhavanotsava,’ a two-day festival of music, dance and performing arts marking the 131st birth anniversary of Kulapathi Dr. K.M. Munshi, Founder-President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), commenced last evening at BVB premises in Vijayanagar here.

Inaugurating the programme, Surabhi Gana Kala Mandira Director Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar recalled her association with BVB, Bengaluru, since 1983 and the encouragement provided to music, dance and plays.

She lauded BVBs in Mysuru, Madikeri and Shivamogga in continuing the cultural tradition. She heaped praises on ‘Kalabharathi,’ an exclusive wing of BVB promoting music, dance, painting and sculpture among students.

Speaking about her profession as a music teacher, Dr. Sukanya said that many people come to her institute to learn music and added that nobody would be turned down on any count.

She further said that if people enjoy and appreciate music that is good enough and those people need not necessarily become musicians.

Students of ‘Kalabharathi’ presented a music and dance programme. BVB Mysuru Chairman Dr. A.V. Narasimhamurthy, Treasurer Dr. A.T. Bhashyam, Wing Commander Balasubramanyam and others were present.
