Mysuru: All India Lawyers Union (AILU) is hosting a two-day 8th State AILU conference in city which commenced this morning at Kaveri Auditorium in the premises of Karnataka State Open University.
Speaking as the chief guest, retired Supreme Court Judge and former Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde bemoaned that social values have gone missing now with power-mongers taking the lead. He pitied that people released from jail on bail are honoured and worshipped. He asked the youth to realise the situation and save the country which has seen several scams.
Continuing, Santhosh Hegde pointed out that corruption has eaten into several good schemes with the beneficiary getting meager benefits ultimately, the bulk getting drained during the implementation. He contended that media is also not fully transparent and honest with a few entertaining paid news. He wished that human values should be restored to what they were yesteryears ago.
AILU National President Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya inaugurated the programme. State Bar-Council former Chairman C.M. Jagadish welcomed, AILU Karnataka President S. Sankarappa presided.
