Two-day Mysuru-MSME Expo-2017 from tomorrow

A two-day Mysuru-MSME Expo-2017 and 4th National vendor development programme, jointly organised by MSME Development Institute, Bengaluru, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka, DIC, Mysuru, KASSIA, Bengaluru, CII Mysuru Chapter and Mysuru Industries Association (MIA) will take place at the Institution of Engineers on JLB road on Mar.4 and 5.

Announcing this at a press meet at Hotel Siddhartha here this morning, Chamaraja MLA Vasu, who is also the MIA President said that about 70 industries from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Mandya districts will take part. The expo features technical seminars and Business to Business interactions, which will greatly help industrialists, entrepreneurs, traders and the like, he said.

PWD and District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the expo at 10.30am tomorrow. MP Pratap Simha will release a Souvenir brought out on the occasion while K.R. MLA M.K. Somashekar will inaugurate an exhibition organised as part of the expo, he said.

Highlighting the measures taken by the MIA and other industrial bodies for the promotion of industries and trade in Mysuru region, Vasu said that MIA had made a representation to CESC for bringing dhobis (dry cleaners), tailors and other such power consumers, who were hitherto classified under commercial category, under the industry category.

The CESC has heeded to our plea and has brought such professions under industry category, which has enabled dhobis,tailors and such others save on power bills to a large extent, he said.

The MLA further said that the Government has sanctioned Mysuru Export Centre and the KIADB has been entrusted with the responsibility of setting up the Centre at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.5 crore.

The Centre will come up near Seshadripuram College along the Ring Road in Vijayanagar. While the State Government will provide Rs. 4 crore, the Union Government will pay its share of Rs. 3 crore and the rest Rs. 1.5 crore has to be borne by MLA Local Area Development funds, MIA and other industrial and trade bodies, Vasu explained.

JK Tyres Vice-President Umesh Shenoy, Bhavasar Kshatriya Samaja President Jayaram Rao Lalige, Bhavasar Darji Association President Rakesh Naik, Madiwala Association President Shivamma, MIA Secretary Suresh Kumar Jain, MSME Development Institute, Bengaluru official Ananda Murthy and others were present at the press meet.
