Two-day photography expo on Mysuru’s Art Deco architecture from tomorrow

Mysuru: The Mysore School of Architecture (MSA) and Mysore School of Design (MSD), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Mysuru Centre and the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, will host a photography exhibition and panel discussion on May 9 and 10, at Heritage House, Mysuru.

The event will celebrate the Art Deco Heritage of Mysuru, highlighting the city’s rich architectural legacy. A. Devaraju, Commissioner of the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, will inaugurate along with J.N. Prashanth, Managing Trustee and Dr. K.V. Lakshmi Devi, Trustee, L.K. Memorial Trust.

Dr. H.S. Champa, Dean and Director of MSA, Dr. V. Balaji, Head of Department at MSA, Prof. Vivina Kuttaiah, Principal of MSD and Prof. Ranbir Mudaliar, Design Chair at MSA,  will be present.

The exhibition stems from the recently concluded Art Deco Cycle Expedition, where students from MSA and MSD explored, documented and photographed Mysuru’s Art Deco architecture.

The initiative also invited public participation, allowing enthusiasts to contribute photographs capturing Art Deco buildings and design elements from across the country.

The event will also feature a panel discussion, “Reinterpreting Art Deco and its Relevance for Today”, featuring Suchitra Deep, Art Historian and Heritage Expert and Ravi Gundu Rao, Heritage Conservator. It will be moderated by Prof. Ranbir Mudaliar.
