Two-day Ramanuja Sahasramanothsava concludes today at Ganapathy Ashrama

Mysuru: A two-day function featuring Sri Ramanuja Shobayatre, Sri Srinivasa Kalyanothsava and Mahabhisheka for Sri Ramanujacharya, organised jointly by Sri Ramanuja Sahasramanothsava Sambhramacharana Samithi, Sri Ramanuja Seva Prathishtanam and Sri Ramanuja Sahasramana Sabha Trust, commenced at Nada Mantapa in Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama premises on Nanjangud Road here yesterday.

Delivering a talk on life and achievements of Sri Ramanujacharya, Senior Scholar K.S. Narayanachar said that Ramanujacharya is remembered even after 1,000 years which is an indication of the great person’s personality who guided people in society to honour discipline and divinity.

A religious meet was held later graced by Sri Shadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar of Melukote, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji, Sri Chidananda Swamiji, Sri Trinetra Mahanta Shivayogi Swamiji and Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji.

An epic on Ramanujacharya ‘Digvijetha,’ written by Dr. K. Pradeep Kumar, was released on the occasion. A distribution of 1,000 saplings was also launched to commemorate  the occasion.

Today’s programme features ‘Parayana Goshti’, ‘Mahabisheka’, ‘Vishnusahasranama’ and bhajans along with discourses.

Shobayatre: Ramanuja Shobayatre was taken out from Chamundipuram Circle to Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama passing through St. Mary’s School Circle and Nanjangud Road. A portrait of Ramanujacharya was carried on a horse-drawn cart accompanied by Veeragase Kunita and Chanda Mela. Over 300 women marched in the procession carrying flags with photos of Ramanujacharya and chanting bhajans. Former Minister S.A. Ramdas, former Corporator M.D. Parthsarthy, BJP leader H.V. Rajiv, Social activist K. Raghuram and others were present.
