Mysuru: The Department of Molecular Biology, Yuvaraja’s College, has organised a two-day Science Academy lecture-cum-workshop on ‘Current Trends in Biological Sciences’ at Vijnana Bhavan, Manasagangothri, on Apr. 27 and 28.
The event, sponsored by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, will be inaugurated at 10 am on Apr. 27.
Prof. S. N. Hegde, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore (UoM), will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Dayanand Mane, Acting VC, UoM, will preside.
Dr. R. Ganesh, Principal, Yuvaraja’s College, will be the guest of honour. Dr. H.N. Kanthalakshmi, Administrative Officer, Yuvaraja’s College, will be present.
This workshop aims at addressing some of the basic questions related to hereditary material, its damage leading to cancer, ageing, bacterial infection, use of model organisms, snake bite related research and importance of quality research.
Speakers from IISc. – Dr. Sathees C. Raghavan, Prof. Dipshikha Chakravortty, Dr. Upendra Nongthomba and Prof. K. Kemparaju; Prof. N.B. Ramachandra from UoM, will deliver lectures.
