Two-day workshop on water conservation

Mysuru: A two-day workshop on water conservation was organised by Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj at the premises of Abdul Nazir Sab State Institute for Rural Development (ANSSIRD) here.

Delivering the keynote address on Monday, the Department Principal Secretary L.K. Atheeq said that the water conservation campaign would go on for three years with the government seeking the advice and opinions of subject experts, NGOs and community leaders.

He pointed out that rejuvenation of water bodies, judicious consumption and afforestation would all contribute to conservation of water and added that a separate website would be launched in that context to include all the important parameters.

Watershed Development Commissioner P.C. Ray spoke on watershed activities in the State. ANSSIRD Director K. Jyothi, Deputy Director Ravindra, Programme Co-ordinator Dr. Ganesh Prasad and others were present on the occasion.
